Does your engagement ring need to be cleaned? Before you decide to do it yourself, do yourself a favor and read through these quick tips!
DON'T: use alcohol or any sort of cleaning agent that contains harsh chemicals.
DON'T: use toothpaste. Toothpaste is an abrasive, especially the whitening pastes. It can scratch both the stones and the metal.
DON'T: use a hard toothbrush. Old or stiff bristled brushes might seem great for loosening stubborn dirt, but they can also loosen stones.
DO: soak your ring overnight in a plastic bowl filled with dish-washing detergent and warm water. This will slowly dislodge any dirt so that it comes off with the minimum amount of effort on your part. After soaking, clean gently with a soft brush. An artist’s bristle brush or a soft unworn toothbrush works well for this. Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft lint free cloth. Voila!
